Free the trees!

Will you come?

Calling All Volunteers to Free the Trees!

The Coalition for the Capital Crescent Trail and the Little Falls Watershed Alliance are teaming up for a community workday to remove invasive vines and shrubs along the CCT at Neal Potter Plaza so that native plants can thrive. Join us and other Weed Warriors to save the trees that sustain local wildlife and the watershed's fragile ecosystem, and to maintain the natural beauty of the trail.

Open to all. Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. LFWA is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours.

We'll provide tools, gloves and instruction. Dress appropriately to protect against the sun and any poison ivy. Wear sturdy, closed toe shoes, long sleeves and pants. Don't forget to bring water, a snack and sunblock!

COVID Safety: Participants must follow the current Maryland and CDC guidelines for COVID safe events. You will be asked to sign a waiver onsite.

Note that the Maryland section of the CCT is part of Montgomery Parks, which requires all eligible staff and volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Nov. 1, 2021.

Weather policy: We usually hold invasive plant pulls as long as there is not pouring rain or deep snow. We will post messages on our website by 11 am if we need to cancel.

This event is capped at 50 people. Please RSVP to attend.
