Join us to Free the Trees!

Will you come?

Calling All Volunteers to Free the Trees!

The Coalition for the Capital Crescent Trail and the Little Falls Watershed Alliance invite you to a joint community workday to remove invasive vines and shrubs along the CCT, so that native trees can thrive.

We'll provide the tools, gloves and instruction you need to help us save the native plants that sustain local wildlife, the watershed's fragile ecosystem, and the trail's natural beauty.

When: Rescheduled due to weather to: Sunday, March 13, 2022, 3 pm - 5 pm

Where: Just south of the CCT bridge over River Road. We'll meet by the small parking area signed for park patrons, located across from the gap in the stone wall along the west side of the CCT.

Who: Open to all. Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours through LFWA.

Tips: Wear sturdy, closed toe shoes, and long sleeves and pants to protect against any poison ivy, prickers and the sun. Bring water, a snack and sunblock.

COVID Safety: Participants must follow current Maryland and CDC guidelines for COVID-safe events. You will be asked to sign a waiver onsite.

Note that the Maryland section of the CCT is part of Montgomery Parks, which requires all eligible staff and volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Weather policy: As long as there is no heavy rain, lightning or deep snow, we'll hold the event. We will post messages to this website by 9 am if we need to cancel or reschedule.

This event is capped at 50 people.
